"Decay buys too many beaters" (decay)

I decided to buy something else fun, Japanese, cheap, and under-powered that will likely make everyone question my sexuality. Meet the new toy, a 1985 Honda Aero 50.
Not running yet, but came with title for the low price of $100. Best part is, last week I found a Trombone (yes, as in a brass musical instrument) in the garbage at my apartment complex, that I sold yesterday for $140.
So basically it's a free scooter, that just so happens to color match my CBR1000 :)

Let me introduce you to the Aprilia SR-50. It might be the last of the legal 2-stroke road going bikes. I have one in my carport now.

Holy hell! How did they manage to make a 2 stroke pass emission standards?!? I can only assume that someone at Aprilia had a "family member" make the folks at the EPA and offer they couldn't refuse.

Mine is a 2001, one of the last "Real" Aprilias, before Piaggio bought them out of bankruptcy. Smokes like a chimney until it warms up and thanks to the Leo Vince pipe sounds like a swarm of pissed off hornets coming down the street. (My neighbors must love that!) I'm too old to care what my neighbors think, so....there's that. Also, it doesn't tolerate any of that 30 mph top speed. No sir, the speedometer goes to about 70, and it will get there before you know it. (There may have been a bit of an engine upgrade there....I'll never tell anyone but my mechanic.)

Sadly, mine does have the 35 MPH speedo.
Here's the bright side, many of the transmission parts from the ruckus are compatible, and the power the Aero has is capable of putting it well into highway speeds.

I wouldn't go that fast on tires that small and narrow...but the idea of it is appealing.
